Privacy Policy

1. Data Controller

AudioLaunch ("we", "our", or "us") is the data controller responsible for your personal data. AudioLaunch is operated from the Netherlands.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your chosen display name, email address (if provided), and profile preferences (avatar, theme, language). You are not required to use your real name. If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g., Google or Apple), we receive only the information you authorize that provider to share (typically email and display name).

2.2 Audio Recordings

Audio files you record within the App are stored locally on your device. We do not access, transmit, or process your audio recordings unless you explicitly choose to publish them to the community library. Published recordings are stored on our EU-hosted servers. You can delete published recordings at any time, and they will be removed from our servers within 30 days.

2.3 User-Generated Content

Profile customizations, community interactions (likes, follows, comments), playlists, and other content you create within the App. Content you publish to the community is visible to other users.

2.4 Progression & Game Data

Your in-app progression (level, achievements, unlocked features, completed missions, equipped items, fuel balance) is stored locally and synced to our servers when you are signed in. This data is essential for providing the App's core functionality.

2.5 Device & Usage Information

We collect anonymized device information (device type, operating system version, app version, screen dimensions) and usage analytics to improve the App. This includes screens visited, features used, session duration, and performance metrics. This data is collected in aggregate and cannot be used to identify you personally.

2.6 Crash Reports & Diagnostics

If the App crashes or encounters an error, we automatically collect diagnostic data through our crash reporting service (Sentry). This may include device state, stack traces, app configuration, and breadcrumbs (recent actions before the crash). Crash data is stripped of personally identifiable information before transmission. We use this solely to identify and fix bugs.

2.7 Push Notification Tokens

If you enable push notifications, we store a device token (provided by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple Push Notification Service) to deliver notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the App's settings.

2.8 Purchase Information

If you make in-app purchases or subscribe to AudioLaunch Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We receive a purchase receipt confirming your subscription status but never receive or store your payment card details, bank information, or billing address.

3. How We Use Your Information

4. Local Storage

The App stores data locally on your device using AsyncStorage (a mobile key-value storage system) and SecureStore (for sensitive tokens like authentication credentials). Local data includes your preferences, progression, session state, and cached content.

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly sync or publish content. You can clear local data by:

  • Using the in-app reset option (Settings → Reset)
  • Clearing the App's storage in your device settings
  • Uninstalling the App

5. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:

* Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the service provider's EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification to ensure adequate protection.

We only share the minimum data necessary for these services to function. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored on secure servers within the European Union (Supabase, Frankfurt). We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+)
  • Encryption at rest for stored data
  • Secure token storage on your device (expo-secure-store)
  • Role-based access controls for internal systems
  • Row-level security on all database tables

Audio recordings remain on your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.

7. Your Rights (GDPR & Dutch Law)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the Netherlands, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch UAVG:

  • Right to Access (Art. 15): Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification (Art. 16): Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to Erasure (Art. 17): Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to Restrict Processing (Art. 18): Request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to Data Portability (Art. 20): Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to Object (Art. 21): Object to processing of your data for certain purposes, including profiling
  • Right to Withdraw Consent (Art. 7): Withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@audio-launch.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

8. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

  • In the App: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
  • By email: Send a request to privacy@audio-launch.com

Upon account deletion:

  • Your profile, progression data, and preferences are permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Published community content (recordings, comments) is removed from public view immediately and deleted from servers within 30 days
  • Local data on your device is cleared (or you can uninstall the App)
  • Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained
  • Data required for legal compliance (e.g., purchase records) may be retained for the legally required period

9. Automated Decision-Making

The App uses automated systems for in-app progression (leveling, achievement tracking, content recommendations). These systems personalize your experience based on your activity within the App. No automated decisions are made that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you. Community content moderation may use automated filters, with human review for enforcement actions.

10. Children's Privacy

AudioLaunch is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at privacy@audio-launch.com and we will delete it within 72 hours.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email at least 14 days before changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
